The recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology regarding the care of patients with heart failure indicate the need to ensure continuity of treatment and the importance of multidisciplinary care provided by a cardiologist in cooperation with a primary care physician and a specialist nurse and a nurse who specializes in caring for patients with heart failure. Although the important role of nurses has been consistently identified, training and education in this area is still neglected In many Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic Countries, the role of nurses is still overlooked.

The STEP-ONE training (Supportive Training and Essential Preparation for Optimal Nursing Education) was developed as part of the Global ACT on HF - Accelerate Change Together program which, among other things, aims to ensure all HF patients receive optimal and integrated care and are empowered for self-management.

The training program includes the preparation of leaders from Central and Eastern European and Baltic countries who will be responsible for the implementation of the program in their regions and for the training of nurses specializing in the care of patients with heart failure. In the next stage, our website will also provide the opportunity to take part in training to become a certified heart failure nurse.
